The Story:
I parked my car on Octavia Street at 10:45A on a 2-hr parking street, I was on my way to move my car on my midday break at 12:30P. I work less than half a block from where I was parked. When I arrived to my car this male parking officer was there giving me a ticket. I told him, "Excuse me sir can I move my car? I am here to move my car within the 2 hour parking limit. He looked at me blankly and said "too late the ticket is already printing out." He then handed me the ticket. I told him I was not parked here for more than two hours and the time listed on the ticket under "time checked" was not correct because I parked there around 10:45a. I also asked him, "hey, where is the chalk mark that should be on my tires if you checked it at 9:40a? He said, "Its on camera, I saw the video. of the camera there on the corner." He then pointed to the corner of Octavia and Grove. I said "There are no cameras there. If there are please show them to me. I want to review the video proving my guilt." He then just got into his vehicle and drove off. I was fuming. So unfair.
Sorry Robert, our department now use computer to time mark vehicles. Using a chalk is entirely up to the individual enforcing the area. In your case, it'll be very hard to dispute your argument to the citation review board. My advice would be not to just time yourself with your watch, but to take a photo of your car @ a angle to where the back ground can capture an image with your car.. a address, a house or even a tree. Your photo will also provide the time it was taken. Hope this helps you and anybody else reading this. DPT Guy.
